.The project “infrastructural” is a reaction to the tragedy of the civil war of 1946-1949 and a contribution to a healing confrontation with the unbearable.
Gyaros island of exile concerns everyones way of life consciously or unconsciously. Therefore we propose that The Museum gets realized under the auspicies of a ‘joint venture’, involving all ministries as the executive representants of the Greek people. Project “infrastructural” helps to balance and strengthen the ‘psychotope’ of the entire society to render it well worth living in it.

New prisons are being built, model industrial and argricultural prisons – 10’000prisoners will be transferred
According to information received – from the Ministry of Justice, agricultural and biotechnical prisons are being built on the island of Yura (Gyaros), located near Syros.
Construction work began some time ago (Augustt 1947) and is progressing rapidly, with 2’500 of the 6’000 convicts transferred to date employed on it. They have beeen moved from various prisons throughout the country. Most of them are skilled technicians and workers, and they receive fair wages, food, and appropriate clothing. It is estimated that the total number of inmates housed at the Jura facility, included those convicted of political offenses, general criminal offenses, and those serving drug-related sentences, will exced 10’000.
The rising fortresses will be the largest in the Balkans, and the most perfect in terms of organization. They have been taken to model institutions of a similar destination operating in the United States. Based on the program approved by the Ministry of Justice, in addition to the main prisons, an extensive complex of buildings is being constructed, in which the prison staff, the administration, other support services, and a small hospital, with about 100 beds and scientific equipment, will be housed.
In addition to the above, it also builds an electric power plant, as well as a factory for the production of various goods, and is fully equipped with roads, a port, and creates all the technical conditions for a complete agricultural exploitation of the island. The pace of the work is so fast that within just 165 days a road 24 kilometers long will be built.
To execute the project, 2.12 billion drachmas have been allocated so far from the state budget. The entire project will be completed within a short period of time.

On 18.03.2025 the submission timeline was postponed, shortly before the deadline of entries on 14.04.2025, by 6 (six!) months. This decision to change the procedure of a one-stage- into a two-stage-competition opens up to manipulations.
