Sándor Márai, 1974: “Es ist etwa zwanzig Jahre her, dass sich im Westen die geheimnisvolle Macht einrichtete, welche Montherlant den “dreizehnten Cäsar” nannte; dieser nahm alles in Besitz: Die Presse, den Rundfunk, das Fernsehen, das Kino und die Schulen und würgte alles ab, was er nicht brauchte.”
Montherlant: “Nero dachte daran, gleichzeitig mit der Feuerlegung in Rom, die Tore des kaiserlichen Wildgeheges zu öffnen und in den Strassen Roms die Löwen loszulassen…”
